SIMPSON, Desley

Desley is Auckland's Deputy Mayor and Ōrākei Councillor. She's known for delivering real results both locally and citywide. Desley helped lead Auckland through the 2023 storms and continues to drive recovery efforts. As Chair of the Revenue, Expenditure and Value Committee, Desley champions fiscal responsibility - achieving over $415 million in savings this term, improving oversight of capital investment, and increasing non rates revenue. Locally, Desley secured funding to upgrade the St Heliers and Remuera Libraries, increased school bus services and boosted funding for our Local Board. Desley's advocacy secured a large investment programme by Watercare to begin increasing water quality from Hobson Bay to Glendowie and gained central government financial support for the Tamaki Drive to Orakei shared path. Desley is standing again because she loves our city and our communities and believes now more than ever, strong, positive experienced leadership matters.
