Lives in Weymouth. He chairs the Manurewa Marae board of trustees and helped lead Manurewa's health and welfare outreach response to Covid-19, and other campaigns like flu vaccination. At the time of writing, the Manurewa Marae had administered around 60,000 vaccinations.
A trustee of the Wiri Licensing Trust for more than 20 years, Rangi has been at the forefront of efforts to rebuild sports and community facilities throughout Manurewa.
Rangi has been able to help transform the Manurewa Netball Centre, rebuild Weymouth Rugby Club, reinvest in Homai Bowling Club, fund a teaching garden at Manurewa East School, support local charitable initiatives like the Clendon Pride Project, and support the Manurewa Business Association.
Along with Councillor Daniel Newman and Trust chair Brian Blake, Rangi is part of Action's leadership team that is working to build Manurewa back after Covid-19.
