As a trustee since 2019, Daniel Newman has used his position to secure funding to rebuild Weymouth Rugby Club; Manurewa Methodist Church; Manurewa Rugby Club; rubberised courts at Papakura Netball; and the Manurewa Netball Centre.
He helped secure funding for other groups, including: Find your Field of Dreams; Crimewatch; Papakura Coastguard; Clendon Pride Project; and the Manurewa Business Association.
Daniel successfully intervened to stop the practice of gaming money being recommended to increase the income levels of elected politicians. Instead he wants to maximise funding for clubs, voluntary groups and charitable initiatives in our community.
