I have lived in the Portage Licensing Trust for 39 years, so am well versed in both the benefits and realities of living within a Trust area. The Trusts play a valuable role in our community, providing for the responsible sale of alcohol and giving back to community organisations. The Trusts are community owned and by legislation the sole licensed operators of taverns and retail liquor stores in their area. Some duties go with that privileged position. These are owed to us their owners, customers, employees and community organisations seeking support. It demands The Trusts and their management company operate efficiently, responsibly and transparently.
With my experience as Chartered Accountant, CEO, Company Director and one term already served, I will strive to ensure The Trusts meet those duties, sell alcohol responsibly, offer the West value for money through decent hospitality venues and retail outlets, remain profitable, and give back more.
